Talent = Failure?
Written by Matthew

This is to the talented ones. The “gifted”. You know who you are.

You’ve been praised all your life for your abilities-

“You’re so talented! The sky is the limit for YOU! You’re going to be SO successful! Just look how talented you are!”

You’ve basked in the glory of others adulation and admiration all your life.

You might might even feel that you could be successful at anything you put your hand to.

Why?

Because you’re talented.

You’re gifted.

Things come easy to you.

But I’m here to tell you it’s all a lie!

The biggest reason why you will probably fail is BECAUSE of your talents.

I know, right?! What a concept! But walk with me for a second as we dig a little deeper.

You will FAIL….
Because you’re so used to things coming easy to you so you find it hard to maintain a sustained and committed effort to the tasks at hand for any significant amount of time.

You’re always looking for the next best, most interesting task or goal to move onto instead of seeing things through when more than talent is required.

Talent is not enough. Persistence, commitment, and hard work will beat talent over time. Every time.

Calvin Coolidge said:

“Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not; nothing is more common than unsuccessful people with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not; the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent.

Go ye and do likewise

Before You Quit
Written by Matthew

We've all come across obstacles in our life; seemingly insurmountable   hurdles that threaten to derail and discourage us from the pursuit of what we want so dearly.

All of us at one time or another in our journey have felt like quitting. It seems  like the easy thing to do would be to just give up and go back to "life as  normal"

The easy thing to do would be to just throw our hands up in the air and chalk  this one up as a failure.

The easy thing would be to change our mind about what we thought we wanted, just to make ourselves feel a little more comfortable about failure.

The easy thing would be to change our goals and desires to fit our "reality".

So if the easy thing to do is just to quit. And since quitting leads to failure....

Would it stand to reason then that "not quitting" leads to success??

So before you quit....here's a simple word of advice.

Don't. Add a comment

Your Friends & Family Don't Want You To Succeed!
Written by Matthew

It’s true!

People are so weird. You’d think that just because you’re a motivated individual, goal-oriented with a direction and a purpose for your life that the people closest to you will automatically praise and adore you for chasing your dreams. WRONG!

The people closest to you can often be the most bitter, condescending, and outright FEROCIOUS DREAM KILLERS that you will ever have to face!

Why is that?

1. They Don’t Want You To Get Hurt

Chasing you dreams can be risky, but the greater risk is to not chase your dreams and be stuck with the life long regret of, “What if?!” Those close to you often don’t want to see you go through the hardships, sacrifice, and disappointment that success demands from each of us.

2. They Don’t Want You To Succeed

Hello! Most people are insecure and are threatened by the success of others, especially those closest to them. Your success may very well attract significant attention from the public, but it will also cast a spotlight on those close to you who may not have achieved that much in their own life. That can be EXTREMELY UNCOMFORTABLE!

2. They Don’t Want Things To Change

When you stand for what you believe in and make that decision to pursue your dreams-THINGS CHANGE. Your focus changes. Your conversations change. Your mindset changes. Your LIFESTYLE changes! And when you finally break through the ceiling of SUCCESS AND ENJOY THE FRUITS OF YOUR LABOR NOT ONLY YOUR LIFE CHANGES BUT THEIRS DOES AS WELL!

People don’t deal well with change. They’re quite comfortable with the way things are (even if they say otherwise!).

So what should you do?

Do YOU, sweetheart and get yours! God intended us to SOAR AS EAGLES-even if some of the other birds in our nest are just content to hop about the place. YOU SHOW THEM THE WAY!!

They’ll thank you for it one day!

Feel The Fear And Do It Anyway
Written by Matthew
Sunday, 08 June 2008 00:00

I've seen so many people venture out into the entrepreneurial world for the first time and quickly retreat because of "fear".

Fear of failure.

Fear of what people will think.

Fear of rejection.

Fear.

But here's the deal: the only way you're going to expand your life and success is by conquering fear once and for all!

Now, I'm not saying to never be scared or nervous or whatever! NOT AT ALL! I'm saying that when you're faced with fear to go out and do it anyways! Maybe you're scared to pick up the phone and call prospects about your business opportunity. Or maybe you're scared to followup with them once they've seen a presentation on your opportunity. Whatever it is.

Wanna know the best way to get over it!?

It's simple.

When you're faced with fear. Do it anyway!

Make the calls. Do the followups. Like Nike says, Just do it!

And you'll find an amazing thing begin to happen. You will find that you aren't as scared about rejection as you once were, you aren't so worried about what people will think....why? Because you're too busy doing what you need to be doing that you don't have time to think about how scared you are!

Feel the fear, and do it anyway!

Recently I decided to really start exercising and so I've been hitting the gym pretty hard. I got a gym membership, started planning my diet, and even got a personal trainer! But you know what the hardest thing for me to do after getting all my ducks in a row was? To actually show up for the workouts!

I felt like everyone was looking at me when I walked through the door at Bally's; like everyone in there was looking down on me-"Look at that whimp! He doesn't belong in here!"

Guys, thoughts are powerful things! Be very careful about what you think!

Since I'd paid all this money I felt like I had to show up (my trainer says that tons of people pay his fees and still don't show up for their sessions! Amazing!). So I showed up for my first session extremely nervous. I still felt like everyone was staring at me as I started my little warm up. Everything in me was telling me to quit! But guess what!? After about 15 minutes of getting into my routine I stopped thinking about everyone else! I was too tired and too focused on what I was doing to care about all those other people!

2 brutal workout sessions later and I wasn't even noticing all the other meat heads milling about. My fear was gone!

It's the same way in this business! Getting started is the hardest part. So get over it and get on with it! Your goals are too important to let "fear" rob you of the success that you deserve!
