Legal Shield Service Summary

Legal Shield offers monthly membership plans that provide numerous areas of coverage. Its most popular plan, the family plan, costs $26 a month and provides coverage in 5 main areas. The first is preventive legal services. Members have access to a top-quality law firm in their state for unlimited phone consultations on unlimited matters. The attornies may also provide contract review and place phone calls and write letters on behalf of Legal Shield members.  Members also receive a will prepared for them at no additional charge that includes free yearly updates and reviews.

The second area of coverage is motor vehicle coverage. Law firms will represent the member in court for any moving traffic violations. This includes representation in manslaughter, involuntary manslaughter, negligent homicide, and vehicular homicide charges.

The third area of coverage is trial defense services.  In a member’s first year of membership they receive 75 hours of their law firm’s time should they be named in a civil or criminal action. 17.5 of these hours can be used for pretrial  services.

The fourth area of coverage is IRS audit coverage. Members receive up to 50 hours of an attorney’s assistance in the case of an IRS audit.

As is custom with most insurance companies, commissions are paid in yearly advances to associates. Associates have the ability to recruit other associates and earn override commissions when those associates make sales.
