I've been absent without leave for a while now...but for good reason.....I'm getting married!!! and that's like a full-time job haha but I'm loving it.
The big day is set for August 7th and my fiance and I are incredibly excited.
But I'm back online and back at it again....
Today I'm announcing the launch of a new online series I'm doing called "Millionaire In The Making"....
What is it about you ask??...simple....4 & 1/2 months ago I found myself with ZERO income...the company i worked for went out of business and left me in a complete daze.....Thank God that a friend introduced me to the Shaklee Corporation.....my third month with the company I earned over $13,000 that month and what that meant to me and my fiance was not having to postpone our wedding date! God is amazing!
I've always been ambitious and ready to take on challenges...I've spent most of my life dreaming about what it would be like to be a millionaire....now I'm on the verge of finding out....
I am absolutely committed to taking my income to the 6 figure monthly level in the next two years. That's right my income in July 2013 is going to be $100,000!! And you're going to get to watch me do it.
I'm starting a new series online called, "Millionaire In The Making".....It's going to be a raw, behind-the-scenes look at my journey to a 7 figure income. I'm really putting myself out there by proclaiming such a HUGE goal to the world, but I'm ready for the challenge
"Polly Wanna Cracker?" 3 Business Lessons From Raising Exotic Birds
Tuesday, 15 March 2011 15:19
Not many people know that I started my first business as a teenager, growing up in South Africa. My business was simple.
I raised and bred parrots.
It started out as a hobby, but quickly my profits started to grow.
I had several different kinds of birds and loved every moment of my enterprise.
I had a great time and lots of fun breeding exotic birds, but I learned 3 fundamental lessons about business that have served me well throughout my business career.
Passion - You absolutely must be passionate about your business. It's so much easier to build an enterprise that you love and are interested in than to be in a line of work that you just aren't passionate about. You can't fake passion. You either have it or you don't. For me, parrots was an absolute passion of mine. I started out with a couple of pet birds, and just started reading up as much as I could about raising and training parrots. I tried to get my hands on as much information on exotic birds as I could and soon I was breeding them and found a an untapped market for my birds in the local community. Soon it became the "cool" thing to have one of Matthew's baby parrots! It didn't feel like work at all!
Master your industry - For me, learning all I could about parrots was easy and fun, because I was passionate about it (hint-hint). I started learning about how to handfeed the babies properly and how to incubate them (handrearing parrot babies means you can sell them for 3-10x the price of an adult bird). I learned how to build cages and started building my own. I learned about breeding patterns and DNA sexing. I learned about diseases and conditions that would harm my parrots. I learned about parot psychology. I learned how to train my parrots.......you get the point. I didn't just breed parrots. I BRED parrots.
Have fun - It's easy to forget that your business enterprise is "work" when you're having "fun". That's why picking an area that you're already passionate about is fundamental to your success. It isn't just about the money. It's about the experience of doing something that you love. You'll be amazed how much money you can have when you're having fun. (note-not everything that we enjoy could potentially earn us a million dollars...but that doesn't mean you shouldn't do it! do what you enjoy, but be realistic about your financial expectations)
Someone asked me the other day how I broke into the entertainment industry and was able to work with over 75 of the top NFL, NBA, and WNBA pro athletes by the time I was 25 years old....
I've been journaling for almost a year now and I must say the results have been absolutely incredible.
Not only have I become more organized, but I'm a lot more effective in how I learn and process everything that happens in my business. The video below is a candid look into what journaling has done for me as an entrepreneur.
p.s. If you're looking for a journal of your own. Check out this one on Amazon. Click here to get it. It's a great tool and only costs a couple of bucks.
p.p.s Sorry about the bad sound quality. I love driving with my windows down. Doesn't make for good audio recordings though.
I had just finished my busiest month ever. When my phone bill came I noticed that I had used over 14,000 minutes on my cell phone as well as sent and received over 7,000 text messages in just ONE month (Thank goodness for unlimited cell phone plans!)!
I had been busy!
The crazy part (as if using 14,000+ minutes on a cell phone plan in a month isn't crazy enough!) was when I calculated my revenue for the month from my primary business I was shocked! I had just had my worst month financially since launching the business and yet I had worked harder than ever!
What gives??
Even though I had been working harder on my business than ever before my results didn't quite reflect that. I was burnt out. Frustrated. Stressed. You name it.
So how was it possible to have worked so hard and end up with less results than in previous months when I didn't work as long or as hard, but had greater results?
